Liturgical Reflection…

Why do we have the third edition of the Roman Missal?  Among other things, the third edition contains prayers for the celebration of recently canonized saints, additional Prefaces for the Eucharistic Prayers, additional Masses and Prayers for Various Needs and Intentions, and some updated and revised rubrics (instructions) for the celebration of Mass.  These updated and revised rubrics were implemented in our Diocese in 2003 at the time the General Instruction of the Roman Missal was issued in our country.  We await the English translation of the third edition of the Roman Missal.

Lk 4:21-30

The people of Nazareth saw Joseph’s son as part of their own home-town hero and celebrity.  When Jesus told them His mission was not only in Nazareth, their pride turned to indignation; they felt cheated.  Today’s gospel teaches us that our concern must extend beyond our immediate family to all God’s children.
